Shi Kollectiv (founded 2020) is an experimental sound performance project threading pulsing rhythmic drum patterns together with other earthly sounds. Our inner circle consists of Sophie Labrey and Lina Launhardt working with two frame drums, to resonate with species of every kind ~ in all spaces throughout time.

The name Shi was born from the feminine pronoun she - embracing the feminine power that lives within us all, and also ‘Shí’ - meaning ‘thread’ in the Kogi language. The Kogi people travel around the world to lay golden thread, reconnecting and repairing damaged earth. We thank their earthwork and dedication, by weaving rhythms and embracing thread of life that connects us all.

„She“ stands in solidarity with the feminine and sisterhood; women were the first drummers in history, and the frame drum was their tool.

Shi Kollective is a project that works to echo this history by continuing to spread the thread, in a contemporary setting. Most of all, Shi Kollective is a playful, open project, that invites you to listen, share, and dance your way around the earth ❤️🌎✨🌈 🥁
